Arts For Life is currently seeking a Program Director for our Asheville, NC chapter serving Mission Children’s Hospital.

About the Organization

Arts For Life (AFL) is dedicated to supporting pediatric patients and families through arts education and engagement. By providing educational arts programs, AFL enriches patients’ lives, nurtures their minds and spirits, and encourages positive healthcare experiences for children and their families. AFL currently serves children and their families in four chapter communities across North Carolina (Asheville, Charlotte, Durham, and Winston-Salem).

Position Overview

This position is part-time (32 hours per week) and non-exempt. Hiring pay range is $17 – $22 per hour. Benefits include 100% employer-paid healthcare package and a generous paid time off policy, with 9 additional paid holidays. The Program Director works primarily in a hospital/clinic setting and will be required to travel between program locations—all within a three-mile radius.

The Program Director is responsible for ensuring that Arts For Life delivers high-quality, engaging arts programs to patients and families in hospitals/clinics, and has overall responsibility for the success of the Asheville chapter serving Mission Children’s Hospital. This position reports to the Executive Director and directly supervises the Asheville chapter’s other staff, volunteers, and interns. The Program Director works with on-site hospital/clinic staff and Arts For Life staff in other chapters, particularly other Program Directors.

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in the arts, education, or a related field OR extensive (at least 5 years) experience with the arts and children in a work environment.

Due to hospital requirements, this position also requires up-to-date immunizations—including COVID-19—and annual flu shots.

This position is subject to the successful completion of an employment background check. An employment background check can include a criminal background check, employment verification, reference checks, license verification, academic verification, and credit history check (if applicable).
