Arts For Life Expands to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC

April 24, 2015 | By Rachel Zink

This spring, Arts For Life is celebrating an exciting new partnership in Charlotte: an Arts For Life program at Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Children’s Hospital! The most comprehensive facility of its kind between Atlanta and Washington D.C., Levine Children’s Hospital has provided outstanding healthcare for children in Charlotte and the greater southeast region since opening its doors in 2007.

At Arts For Life, we’re honored to offer our educational art programs to children and teens at Levine Children’s Hospital who are facing challenging illnesses and disabilities. Kids battling cancer, blood disease, and other long-term illnesses can take part in meaningful and educational art projects in one of many playrooms across the hospital with the guidance of their Arts For Life teachers. Additionally, patients can explore their creative side in what we call “bedside studios,” or hospital room one-on-one art lessons.

Located in the heart of Charlotte, Levine Children’s Hospital has received national recognition from U.S. News & World Report as one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” in five different categories. The healthcare providers at Levine Children’s Hospital and supporters at the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation know firsthand the important role the arts play in the healing process. Their displays of original artwork on every floor of the hospital, the popular on-site Seacrest Studios, and collaborations with local arts organizations, demonstrate the many ways Levine Children’s Hospital is truly on the cutting edge of patient and family-centered care amid exceptional medical expertise.

In addition to our new partnership, Arts For Life continues to inspire and encourage kids and families in the Charlotte region through Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and Camp C.A.R.E (Cancer Ain’t Really the End).
